RDC EuroNight started running from Stockholm towards Hamburg and Berlin on 1 September 2026. RDC Deutschland has thereby taken over the connection after SJ’s commercial services.
Meanwhile, Snälltåget runs its seasonal night train service between Stockholm, Malmö, Hamburg and Berlin. The choice depends on travel day, season, price and the level of comfort you need.
RDC EuroNight from 1 September
RDC states that EuroNight 344/345 continues all year round, three times a week in each direction. The inaugural train had sleeping cars, couchette cars and a seated car. Interrail has been valid since 1 September, but a separate seat reservation is required even with a pass. Reservations are offered in all three car types via nachtexpress.de. According to RDC, booking for Christmas and New Year 2026/2027 opens on 9 September 2026. Check the booking close to departure, as times may change because of engineering works.
Snälltåget to Hamburg and Berlin
Snälltåget runs night trains during selected periods and has bookable departures in autumn 2026. The route goes via Malmö and Copenhagen to Hamburg and Berlin. It can suit you if your date coincides with the operating period or if you want to board in Lund or Malmö.
RDC or Snälltåget: what is the difference?
RDC’s main difference is the year-round pattern with three weekly services. Snälltåget is more seasonal but has more Swedish boarding stations in its published timetable. Both offer a night journey, but car types, compartment rules, Interrail terms and prices must be compared for your particular departure.

Stay near the train in Sweden
